Description
Chateau Cantin is a 32Ha site situated in the village of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, a Unesco Heritage site, on a hillside with clay-limestones soils, dominated by 90% Merlot. A 10-year program is being implemented to restructure the vineyard, where 8Ha were pulled out and replanted according to soil analysis. On top of this they have employed Michel Rolland, the virtuoso of Merlot to improve their winemaking. And the results speak for themselves, one sip and we agree, bravo, what a great job they have done…
Smells
A plethora of dark berry fruits, forest floor, seaweed, liquorice with leafy, minty nuances.
Tastes
A fruit bomb, but at the same time it has superb structure, mouth-coating tannins and a long, warm finish, making for an enticing package. It clearly speaks of Merlot dominance but in the best possible way. No going Left-Bank here…Warm chocolate with a red berry coulis in the mix with cedar and spice flavours complimenting the plush fruit and structured tannins. No rush to drink as this well age 15years+
