Description
Hawkes Bay is the home of some very tasty and serious Bordeaux blends and this 2016 Twisted Vine Merlot Cabernet is a tremendous bargain. A blend of 71% Merlot and 29% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes were harvested from the Tantallon vineyard in Hawkes Bay, where the warm 2016 growing season provided ideal conditions to ripen the grapes to perfection, making for a superb drinking Bordeaux style. After fermentation the wine was aged in season oak for before being blended and bottled.
Smell: Aromas of dark summer fruits are supported by gentle oak and spice.
Tastes: The palate is rich, exhibiting deep berry flavours, ripe cassis notes with subtle nutty oak and fine-grained tannins. A very approachable and easy drinking style, perfect drinking now through 2026 and will match with BBQ meats and hard cheese.
