Description

High in the hills of Grezzana, the Case Vecie vineyard sits at over 450 metres above sea level, where cooler nights and a long, slow ripening season give the fruit remarkable freshness and finesse. JK.14’s Valpolicella Superiore Case Vecie 2022 is crafted by the celebrated Brigaldara estate—masters of balance and tradition—using hand-harvested Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes. Fermentation unfolds gently in temperature-controlled vats to preserve the pristine aromatics before ageing in large oak barrels enhances structure and texture without overshadowing the fruit. The result is a Valpolicella that speaks of its altitude and heritage—pure, elegant, and deeply expressive. This wine is both a tribute to the old vineyards of Verona and a modern interpretation of what Valpolicella can be: graceful, layered, and effortlessly drinkable.

Smells

the nose opens with beautifully lifted aromas of wild cherry, redcurrant, and pomegranate, laced with hints of dried herbs, violet, and a gentle dusting of spice. Subtle notes of almond, cedar, and cocoa emerge with air, reflecting its time maturing in large oak casks.

Tastes

the palate, it’s graceful yet concentrated — juicy red fruit wrapped in silky tannins and a fine mineral thread. The cool-climate origins of the vineyard shine through in its precision and freshness, while the supple texture and savoury undertones of tobacco and earth add depth and complexity. The finish is long, pure, and elegant, lingering with cherry, spice, and a whisper of dark chocolate. A superbly balanced Valpolicella that captures the essence of the vineyard. Drinking well now through 2028. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
