Description
Amarone is the most full-bodied of all Italian wines, this one that former All Black John Kirwan imports weighing in at a whopping 16.5% alcohol. It’s made from a blend of Corvinone, Corvina, Rondinella with a small amount marked “other” with a classic Italian shrug of the shoulders. The grapes are dried on racks in the classical fashion to concentrate the sugars, the wine spending 1 years in barrique and then a further 2 years in gigantic 25hL oak barrels. A decadent and velvety wine, this is a gorgeous example of a legendary Italian wine style. Never minding it is from 2009, what a joy to be able to buy a wine that has 14-15 years bottle age. A wine that can be enjoyed now or mature for another 10 years+.

						Smells
Big, cuddly and jammy nose of cherries, blackberries, vanilla and exotic spices.

						Tastes
Voluptuous and full-bodied, with a dense core of dark fruit, raisins, coffee and chocolate, the finish is long, velvety and sensuous. Well done, JK… we’re excited to have another Amarone of this quality for NZ drinkers to enjoy! Serve with an exotic cheese selection. The recommended serving temperature is 14-16 degrees.
