Known as Durif to Aussie locals, this bold red gets a name upgrade and a serious flavour makeover under the Caravan label by John Quarisa. Don’t be fooled by the "Petite" in Petite Sirah—this is a full-throttle, richly fruited wine bursting with dark berry, plum and spicy Christmas cake vibes, all wrapped in a generous layer of toasty oak. Whether you're firing up the BBQ or hunkering down by the fire, Caravan is your go-to for bold flavour and big personality.
Smells
Vanilla and toasty oak on the nose, with stewed rhubarb, liquorice, blackcurrant, plum duff, chocolate and Christmas cake.
Tastes
Very sweetly fruited with warming alcohol giving a sweet kick through the long, rich palate with a fine bed of grainy tannins, this is a lovely rich wine that shows incredible concentration for the money. Great buying for when you just want a big, satisfying glass of red. Drink young between now and 2028 with your favourite roasted red meats. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
