Description
In the 1950s, Isole e Olena was formed through the union of two neighbouring estates, Isole and Olena. This merger marked the beginning of a new era for the property, especially after it was acquired by the De Marchi family, originally from Piedmont. Under their stewardship, the estate has reached extraordinary heights, with meticulous attention to detail in both vineyard management and winemaking elevating the quality of their wines to world-class standards. Today, Isole e Olena enjoys cult status, particularly for their flagship wine, Cepparello, a 100% Sangiovese masterpiece. Their Chianti Classico, often regarded as Cepparello’s “little brother,” is no less impressive. This blend of 83% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo, and 2% Syrah showcases the estate’s expertise and offers exceptional value, delivering a classic expression of Chianti Classico with the unmistakable craftsmanship of Isole e Olena.
Smells
classic aromatics of Sangiovese; red cherries, raspberries, red liquorice with wonderful, perfumed notes, and dried rose petals underpinned by earthy, salty, and slightly herbal nuances.
Tastes
the season has resulted in a delicious wine that is surprisingly drinking well now and doesn’t need a lot of cellaring. It's bright, full of flavour and incredibly moreish, evident by the sweet berry fruit, rose petal perfume, cedar, liquorice, and tobacco giving way to earthy notes that lure you in. One sip and you will be a believer. The tannins/acid are seamlessly interwoven throughout the fruit and excite and entice even more with every sip. Don’t hold back, it’s too good. Drinking now and until 2035, serve with your favourite roasted red meats. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
