While Famille Perrin make some of the most expensive red wines in the world off their famous Chateau de Beaucastel Estate in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, they are better known in New Zealand for selling supremely pleasurable, outstanding value wines like La Vìeille Ferme (the old farm) - these days affectionately referred to globally as the “Chicken Wines” … apropos the adorable, recognisable caricature of a chicken on their label. La Vìeille Ferme Rouge is magical value ‘regular drinking’ Red crafted by a producer extraordinaire! A blend of Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah. Luscious, fresh, textural & grainy, its character filled Côtes du Rhône Rouge. Highly versatile with food, and utterly delicious without, it can even be enjoyed with a light chill on warmer nights.
Smells
Delightful mix of raspberry, blackberry, red and black liquorice, and spice aromas.
Tastes
Luscious, and laden with fresh red & black berry fruits threaded with subtle spices. Generous fleshy flavours with a fine tannin backbone and lightly creamed textural embrace keeping your full attention. Great with casual BBQ and alfresco dining.
