Description
Ample, sturdy, and thick-skinned – just like the wombat – the Malbec grape is the little giant of the wine world. Making typically dense and structured wines. Malbec is often considered the backbone of many great wine blends. This single expression of Malbec is classically rich in dark, berry and plum fruit with subtle floral and spice flavours.
Smells
deep, dark, brooding aromas of blackberries, blueberries, rosehip, coffee, and spice and with a slight lift of mint.
Tastes
Plush fruit initially gives way to robust, chalky, and somewhat drying tannins that cling and barely let go. Dense, compact, chunky, and forceful – just like the wombat and decanting an hour before serving will allow the fruit to shine. Dark berry fruits with cassis, mulberry and sandalwood flavours run strong with an undertone of No. 8 dark chocolate, mint biscuits. Almost a meal in the glass. Serve with hearty stews and meat dishes. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
