Description
A really lovely introduction to the charms of Piedmont in the North of Italy, the wine is a blend of 75% Barbera and 25% Nebbiolo - and it's now under screw cap for extra reliability and freshness. Made by Fontannafredda, the wine is dark and brooding with plenty of acidity and tannin in the classic Italian mould, the palate filled with liquorice, raspberry, cherries, smoke, and spices.
Smells
loads of blue fruits entice the senses, supported by bramble, blackberry, black liquorice, and spice.
Tastes
classic Italian tannins grip the cheeks giving a warming, chalking, chewy texture that is simply heavenly, combined with the salivating acid and dark berry fruit flavours, making for a superb chewy, everyday wine style. The perfect wine to enjoy with hard cheese or your favourite tomato-based Italian creations, it will be at its best between now and 2026. A wine for today, that won’t stretch your budget, offering something very different with wide appeal to those who love the specialities life has to offer. For optimal drinking pleasure the recommended serving temperature is 14-16 degrees.
