Description
One of the most respected and historic names in Barolo, Pio Cesare delivers exceptional quality across their entire range. This Barolo is crafted in the traditional style from grapes sourced across multiple family-owned vineyards in some of the region’s most prized subzones. This multi-vineyard approach – a hallmark of the old Barolo families – creates a wine that beautifully showcases the complexity, depth, and balance the region is famed for. Fermented in stainless steel with a long maceration of 25–30 days, it’s then matured in large French oak for 30 months. This wine has great structure and longevity, yet it's approachable in its youth. A classic Barolo that balances tradition with lasting appeal. Perfect for cellaring or a special occasion.
Smells
lifted aromatics of rose dried cherry, anise, and earthy truffle.
Tastes
On the palate, it is beautifully structured yet graceful, with finely woven tannins and vibrant acidity giving poise and energy. Flavours of ripe red berries, plum, and balsamic mingle with earthy truffle, liquorice, and tobacco notes. A long, elegant finish carries persistent spice and minerality, promising excellent ageing potential. Refined, balanced, and deeply complex—a superb example of traditional Barolo winemaking at its best. Drink now with decanting, or cellar confidently for 10–20 years. Cook a magnificent home cooked meal and savoury the experience. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
