Description
Beaujolais is famous for Gamay and a few producers especially in Hawke’s Bay are trying to champion this variety as the next best thing for NZ. Lauren Swift makes a delicious 100% Gamay, using carbonic fermentation, as typically found in Beaujolais. The grapes undergo 7 days of whole bunch carbonic maceration, then press the juice and ferment in tank. Making for a superb, fresh, and fruity style, that suits being chilled, especially on these warm summer days ahead.
Smell: An exciting take on Gamay, dusty, ruby red in colour, aromas of bubble gum, red plum, and a touch of spicy complexity.
Tastes: The palate is delicious, juicy, bursting with crunchy red fruits, and a lovely acid backbone. Designed to be drunk chilled. Match with venison salami or tuna ceviche.
