Description
Rich in both heritage and flavour, Church Block has been a South Australian icon since 1972, when Wirra Wirra founder Greg Trott crafted the very first vintage beside a small Bethany church. Originally a Grenache/Shiraz blend, the wine evolved into a Cabernet-led style in the early 1980s and went on to become one of Australia’s most beloved reds. Now, after five decades, Wirra Wirra has returned to its roots with this Grenache/Shiraz revival—an inspired nod to the past, celebrating tradition, terroir, and timeless drinkability. A classic reborn.
Smells
Rich and powerful red fruits. Raspberry, cherry, and strawberries galore, with a touch of savouriness, spice with lifted mint chocolate notes. Powerful and opulent, a real winner here.
Tastes
The powerful fruits from the nose continue through on the palate and are wonderfully complemented by coatings of chocolate and a touch of creaminess and spice. A beautifully balanced Shiraz that straddles the fine line of opulent fruit without being sweet. Superb stuff, and fabulous bang for your buck. Made for juicy, red meats. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
