Description

Champion Trophy Grenache + Gold at Royal Queensland Show – Gold at Royal Melbourne + 93-95/100 Ratings from leading Australian critics. Yalumba Distinguished Sites is a collection of exceptional wines; intriguing, distinct and true to the unique parcel of dirt that inspired their creation. Handcrafted from Yalumba’s old vine Grenache, sourced from two blocks on their Tri-Centenary Vineyard, planted in 1949 & 1929, in the tiny Barossa Valley subregion of Vine Vale. Vine Vale Grenache is all about the subtlety of whole bunch fermentation. The two blocks were wild fermented separately - the first 31% whole bunch, the second 20% whole bunch fruit. A wine with alluring fragrance, it is complex, savoury and fruit driven. Generous and bright through the palate with a crunch of acidity surrounding the juicy middle palate that Grenache aficionados will love. 6-months in seasoned oak puncheons enhanced texture and complexity without impacting on the luscious parade of pure, elegant fruit. Quality of a Prestige Single Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir – with similar flavour profiles, but with more body and elegance. Thoroughly delicious as a young red, it will develop further and peak through 2027-2029.

Smells

Lifted pure red cherry and blue berry fruits intriguingly and subtly layered with black pepper, savoury herbs and spices.

Tastes

The palate is plush, pure & succulent. Red and blue fruits are entwined in mocha flavours with bright acidity and fine, powdery tannins. A potpourri of rosemary, herbs, spices and subtle fruit cake flavours add abundant charm to the elegant, unerring finish. Pair with roasted red meats or roasted vegetables and Beetroot. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
