Description
When we tasted a sample of this rare, cancelled export shipment… we were impressed by the pure varietal flavours, intensity and concentration of this fabulous Cabernet Franc. We managed to secure the last 112 dozen of the 2022 vintage that did not go to Australia… to sell at a most amazing $17.99! Since 2013, the Clonal Brothers, Matt and Steve Harrop, have been crafting delicious wine labelled Amen Break, in reference to the most sampled drumbeat in musical history (google it and you might recognise hearing it). It is mostly exported to Australia and sold through quality purveyors & select Fine Wine merchants. When you know where the grapes are from, it's easy to understand why this Cabernet Franc is sooooo good! They hail from the famed slopes of the Te Mata peak, high in Havelock North… “if you know, you know” – you know what we’re saying. Drinking superbly at 3-years, it will be beautiful drinking through 2028.
Smells
Pure aromatic pleasure from the first sniff with engaging blackberry, boysenberry, dried rose petal, pencil lead and black tea leaf.
Tastes
The palate is focused and layered with mixed black fruits, infused with fragrant dark rose, subtle pencil lead and fine cedar complexities. Crunchy tannins keep the composure throughout the long succulent finish. Incredible drinking now through 2028 – try with lamb, beef or aged cheddar.
