Description
The crème de la crème of fruit from three of the finest vineyards in the Marlborough. The certified organic vines are cropped to tiny yields. The grapes are hand-harvested, hand-sorted, destemmed then berry sorted to ensure that each individual Pinot grape is pristine before going into small open top fermenters. Gentle hand plunging took place twice daily, with a cold soak pre, and a long maceration post-ferment. The fermented wine was then gently pressed off and then racked to French oak barrels for 11 months (26% new). It other words, the Royal Treatment! No more care can be taken to craft the finest Pinot Noir possible than has occurred with this sublime Kiwi Pinot Noir. Chambolle-Musigny comes to mind, the opulence of spice and red fruits is just pure seduction.
Smells
A vast array of red berry fruit and plum with enticing rose florals, exotic spice and forest floor nuances. Quite thrilling.
Tastes
Unbelievably silky and inviting, the palate has depth, roundness and richness. Vibrant strawberry, cherry and plum notes harmonize with spice and forest floor. Very easy to appreciate in it, drinking wonderfully now through to 2030+. Enjoy with duck or lamb.
