Description

Staggering 27 Customer reviews in so far… 24 of them perfect at 5/5… the total average a HUGE 4.95/5! Profound ‘CRU’ quality Triple 96/100 Rated 2020 Pinot Noir CLEARING Hidden Label to protect this Elite Producer – unfathomable quality at $19.99 bottle! We cannot recall ever being offered a Pinot Noir for CLEARANCE sub $35… where every component of the production was at the highest level possible. 1. Made with the crème de la crème of fruit selections off the 3 finest Old-Vine Vineyards in Marlborough. 2. The certified organic old vines are cropped at miniscule yields. 3. The grapes are hand-harvested, hand-sorted, destemmed then “berry sorted” to ensure every single grape is “perfect”. 4. Handcrafted in small open top fermenters… gentle hand plunging took place twice daily, with a cold soak pre, and a long maceration on skins post-fermentation. 5. The fermented wine was then gently pressed off and racked to expensive French Oak barrels for 11 months (26% new). You could rightly call it a Grand Cru production. No more care can be taken to craft the finest Pinot Noir possible, than has occurred with this sublime Kiwi wine. Chambolle-Musigny comes to mind, the opulence of spice and red fruits is just pure seduction. It’s been winery cellar aged for 5-years… wonderful drinking… it will peak around 2030 and hold through 2035 if well stored.

Smells

Enticing rose florals and exotic spice introduce a vast array of red berry fruit & black plum with forest floor savouriness. Thrilling aromatics.

Tastes

Unbelievably silky and inviting, the palate has deep concentration, roundness & richness. Vibrant strawberry, cherry and plum fruits mingling with spice & forest floor complexities. Power, depth, silkiness, weight and length… it’s CRU level quality… reminiscent of Chambolle Musigny. Worth a light decant to let its complex layers & finesse come to life… and serve in your best Pinot glasses. Enjoy with duck, venison or lamb.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.

Initial purchase - 5 bottles purely on the 100% accurate taste description by the team at finewine. Just bought another 2 dozen. Says it all. Amazing amazing Pinot. Drinks well str8 from the bottle and gets better with every sip you take. Will make you smile ;)

An excellent Pinot. Best I have tasted from The region.

Great value wine. Exceed my expectations as a first time hidden label purchase. Will definitely be looking out for more of these in the future

18th August 2025 | Carl Bennett

To be honest it didn't quite have the colour or weight that I was expecting based on the marketing blurb. But no wories. The spicy notes, sweet red fruit make for an immensely pleasurable wine. Very easy to under estimate this wine which is certainly great value.

18th August 2025 | Geoff Davis

This is delicious. Loved the savoury backbone. It was a big complex mouthful with fruit and spice. It was obvious that a lot of care and expertise had been involved.

17th August 2025 | Wendy Fergusson

I usually opt for a central Otago Pinot but this is beautiful

16th August 2025 | Edward

Absolutely love this wine it has the right amount of depth and finesse, I am well acquainted with this superb winery as they produce the very best and was delighted to sample another of their beautiful wines.

16th August 2025 | Faye Earl

Unheard of! A wine this good at that price? Must be a mistake somewhere. Need to buy some more...

16th August 2025 | MM

A lovely subtle and complex wine. It did need time to breathe after opening, otherwise it was slightly bitter. Definitely a good drink, and excellent value for money

15th August 2025 | Richard Drummond

Very nice, full of flavour, medium body pinot noir. Highly recommend it.

15th August 2025 | Boz Zutic

An amazing wine for this price. It's a bit sad that the current market is tricky for wine producers, however the consumer profits. A stunner for $20, it's worth its original price. Get it while it's there. Oh, another note: let it breath for an hour or so. It benefits from a bit of oxygen.

15th August 2025 | EJ

A truly delicious wine, full of mellow flavours.

15th August 2025 | Jane Ireland

OMG I love a hidden label wine when it turns out to be not just Cinderella, but also Snow White and Prince Charming! I rate this wine not only as the best value for $$ I have ever purchased, but genuinely worth the original winery price. Not too often you find a retired accountant being so effusive! I have already ordered more...

15th August 2025 | Geoff Hatten

I feel privileged to have access to a wine of this quality at such an amazing price. Have recommended to others and I know they won't be disappointed.

15th August 2025 | Mike Odgers

Organic? Tick! Deliciously plummy and smooth? Tick! Complex enough to be intriguing, but not overwhelming? Tick! Dare I say – Profound? Yes! How fast should I go to get some of this? Don’t Cru-ise, run! Mighty fine and another Hidden Jeff Gem - cheers mate!

15th August 2025 | Tracy

Beautiful wine with a little bit of ageing which is great. a classy wine

15th August 2025 | Michael Dempsey

A fantastic Pinot Noir! The best value wine I have bought this year. Well aged and silky smooth.

15th August 2025 | Ben

Stunning indeed. It was everything it said in the message and on the bottle. Yum.

15th August 2025 | Patricia Thomas

Fruit from the Clayvin vineyard has helped make this a show-stopping pinot. Perfectly balanced, elegant wine .Should cellar some as will continue to improve but given its current appeal, best to buy more

15th August 2025 | Brendon Burns

Smooth with soft mouthfeel. Aromas of cherry with savoury overlay Good fruit and has some savoury flavours

15th August 2025 | Paul Coyle

Opulence in a glass, exceptional wine under $20!!!!

15th August 2025 | Reg Cuthers

I was pleasantly surprised with this full bodied rich touch of spice pinot. Also very happy as it would be one of the best organic wines I have tried. Amazing price and if one can keep it long enough will store well.

15th August 2025 | Susan Elliott

Fantastic wine, so good that I went back for a second order as soon as I realised what it was and how it tasted.

15th August 2025 | Matt Capon

I have come to rely on Jeff's recommendations, and this wine was right up there. The description was spot on, and I look forward to enjoy my bottles over the next several months.

15th August 2025 | Manfred Schauer

Exceptional Value and Quality This 5-Star Cru Pinot Noir delivers exceptional quality at an exceptional price. Silky, beautifully balanced, and effortlessly drinkable — it’s the kind of wine you’ll want to enjoy now rather than cellar. In fact, forget cellaring altogether — it’s simply not going to make it there. TOO good to wait.

15th August 2025 | david mcnickle

A fine wine. Excellent drinking at the price.
