Description

Crafted with fruit off 17–19-year-old estate vines by outstanding Central Otago Pinot winemaker Matt McConnell (Matt has World Champion Pinot Winemaker Pedigree). While their world class vineyards cover 175 hectares... only a small percentage of carefully selected, handpicked grapes finish up in the hands of the Winemaker for the McArthur Ridge Label. McArthur Ridge is making big waves domestically & Internationally with their benchmark quality v price Pinots. Their 2022 was “Crowned Champion NZ Pinot Noir” at the International Wine Challenge in London last year... beating Pinots several times its price! 2023 has won Gold + drew a 95/100 from our Tasting Panel. It’s another remarkable quality v price Central Otago Pinot Noir from this fabulous vineyard.

Smells

Aromas over-flow the glass with heady notes of freshly foraged wild red berries, black cherry, cranberry, crushed fresh herbs, and a subtle salty lift. Beautifully intense, making you sit back and inhale deeply, repeatedly.

Tastes

A defined & complex Pinot Noir with plush red and black fruits encased by grainy tannins in a framework consistent with excellent food compatibility and aging. The silky fruit is underpinned by fine savoury and cured meat complexities adding intrigue to its voluminous palate. Crammed with Central Otago charm encouraging early drinking. However, it has the necessary weight and structure to age beautifully through 2029-2030. Serve with pasta, mushrooms, lamb or duck.
