Description
Named after the Manatu tree (ribbonwood), this 2022 Pinot Noir is an assemblage of individual parcels from their Manatu vineyard in Lowburn. The sheltered valley with elevated terraces gently sloping to the north and soils of loess over deep gravel and pedogenic lime deposits produce grapes with floral and wild thyme aromas, black cherry and plum notes and fine, velvety tannins.
Smells
A complex nose showcasing black cherry, black raspberry, baking spices, vanilla and earthy undertones.
Tastes
Deep crimson in appearance, juicy and ripe dark berries balanced by youthful freshness and acidity. Robust tannins offering depth, structure and aging potential. Seductive, classy and complex, a superb Pinot speaking of its origins and has the concentration and balance to cellar for 8-10 years+. Serve with lamb, beef or duck. The recommended serving temperature is 13 degrees.
