Description
Ex-Neudorf winemaker John Kavanagh is guiding Te Kairanga back to the very top of Martinborough producers, the quality now far exceeding the wine’s modest asking price. Established in 1984, Te Kairanga is an important part of the Martinborough wine story. Our home vineyards are planted on land that was originally owned by the founding father of Martinborough, John Martin. While our land is steeped in history, our winemaking is very much focused on the future; “to fully realise the potential of this incredible piece of land,” according to our Chief Winemaker John Kavanagh. Pinot Noir is at the beating heart of Te Kairanga. Small parcels of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Riesling showcase the abundance of our region.
Smells
A beautiful nose with aromas of dark cherries, dark chocolate, coffee, brown spice and toasty vanilla oak. Its hard to stop smelling the glass.
Tastes
Unctuous on every level, plush fruit with a superb balance of red and dark berry fruits layered with pepper, spice and toasty oak. Smooth tannins with a slight grip provide an excellent structure, as does the salivating, refreshing acid spine. Excellent value for money, a wine that speaks of its origins and a wonderful Pinot for every day as well as for those special occassions.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
