Description
Tolpuddle Vineyard was established in 1988 and it took its name from the Tolpuddle Martyrs: English convicts transported to Tasmania for forming an agricultural union. The leader of the Martyrs, George Loveless, served some of his sentence working on a property near Richmond, part of which is now Tolpuddle. From humble beginnings to a vineyard that produces some of Australia’s finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Evidenced in 2006 when Tolpuddle won the inaugural Tasmanian Vineyard of the year award, reflecting the performance of this unique and distinguished site. And every year the excellence continues to shine through their stellar wines: One to try and one for the cellar, or more.
Smells
True to the Tolpuddle Pinot Noir style: intensely aromatic, violets, sour cherry, and a touch of rhubarb.
Tastes
Medium bodied with savoury spice notes, graphite, and cured meats, along with a purity of varietal expression, fresh acidity, and ripe tannins. A fine example of a Pinot from Australia’s most famous cool climate region. Drinking superbly now and will cellar 4-5years. Perfect with gamey meats.
