Of all the stunning Pinot Noirs that Grant Taylor makes under Valli, Gibbston is both the closest to his heart and often the finest; but nothing separates the quality of all 4 releases in 2023 vintage, its their regional terroir driven flavour and structure differences that stand them apart. Though Gibbston is the coolest of the Central Otago sub-regions, Grant’s site is the best in the valley, and his wines always show perfect ripeness and ample generosity. A must for any serious or aspiring Pinot Noir collector!
Smells
Haunting aromas of red and black cherries, wild herbs, French oak and leather, with subtle gamey meats.
Tastes
Very concentrated with black fruits, yet light on its feet, with wild cherry introducing an array of delicate florals and structural tannins. An amalgamation of subtle power and intrigue, with layers of flavour. World Class Central Otago Pinot Noir with 15+ years of age ability.
