Description
Expectations run high when a bottle of Ata Rangi Rose comes across our desk, and the blend is a little different from the rest, a blend of Wairarapa fruit, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah, and Malbec. Having said that, Ata Rangi is very different from the rest, definitely a cut above the rest. Barrel fermentation with lees ageing has given a biscuity, creamy texture, this 2022 Ata Rangi Rose is all class from the moment you pour your glass.
Smells
Abundant summer fruits and florals, including strawberry, yellow-fleshed plums, grilled nuts, and red cherries.
Tastes
Dry and creamy to taste with complex biscuity notes and strawberry shortcake, the finish is long and sophisticated with a hint of fennel and cranberry. The texture is striking, like few other NZ roses, but hey it is Ata Rangi, we would expect nothing less. Made to drink now, it is gorgeous with smoked salmon or light summer foods. The recommended serving temperature is 7-10 degrees.
