Description

Earlier this year, we fell in love with the single vineyard Chardonnay from Trelinnoe (tree-lin-o) Vineyard on Roys Hill… named for the owner’s historical ties to Cornwall. Trelinnoe is part of a project highlighting some of Hawke’s Bay's most unique, small, single vineyards. The Roy’s Hill terraces are sandstone over limestone, contributing to the wine's distinctive character. Now, the “International” spotlight is firmly on their Trelinnoe Syrah with huge critic’s ratings of… 97/100 Bob Campbell MW – 97/100 James Suckling – 96/100 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. 2020 vintage was spectacular for Hawke’s Bay, and this Syrah beautifully reflects that. It boasts ripe, full fruit and complexity with minimal oak influence, showcasing Hawke’s Bay's signature spice and dark fruit notes. Despite its proximity to the La Collina vineyard, Trelinnoe Syrah has a unique tannin structure and is more brooding in its youth. A World Class Hermitage like Hawke’s Bay Syrah to cellar through 2030-2035.

Smells

A heady perfume of violets, graphite, red and black liquorice, ripe red berries and hints of pink peppercorns. Tastes. A wine of many parts, with an elegance, supple, smooth and silky nature, but a wine that has much to reveal. The finely woven, chalky tannins give drive and direction and carry to the very long finish. The brooding red & black fruit flavours persist throughout and remain present in the complex & beguiling finish. Serve with roast lamb or beef. For optimal drinking pleasure serve at 15-16 degrees.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
