Secret NZ CLEARANCE away from the eyes of Australian drinkers (they would be upset) who pay much more for this Prestige McLaren Vale Shiraz - Cancelled UK bound shipment of stunning 2021 vintage Reserve McLaren Vale Shiraz - 5 Gold Medals + 3 x 5 Star Ratings… including an impressive 95/100 Decanter World Wine Awards. This winery produces mainly prestige wines for Aussie and global hospitality markets with a smaller portion sold in Fine Wine Merchants. FWD are secretly CLEARING it in NZ under our legendary “Hidden Label” program… you buy on trust without knowing the brand… when it arrives with you it will be wearing its normal label - Google it in Australia and confirm its normal price. The low fruit set 2021 vintage saw yields circa 50% of normal… and combined with cooler temperatures enabled the fruit to hang out on the vines and ripen more slowly. The good news is the flavour concentration… colour… overall quality are exceptional. I like the restrained 7-day maceration on skins (normally 18-20 days) and 20% use of New French oak… the rest seasoned barrels. It has allowed the juicy McLaren fruit to be the hero whilst achieving genuine complexity and finesse. Share this one with your mates so you can drink it at their place too. A babe… eminently drinkable as a young Shiraz given its elegance… but comes with 15-20 years of cellar potential as well should you choose.
