Description
While Jim Barry's legendary Armagh Shiraz is not always within budget, the McRae Wood Shiraz is essentially its little brother - although there's not a lot of it about. With loads of rich, dark fruit and classic spicy characters supported by smoky, charry oak, this is a burly decadent wine to enjoy in its youth, or even better, cellar through to 2028+ and beyond for even better results. Heralded as one of the best vintages to date by James Halliday, where it scored a whopping 96points. Definitely one for the cellar, don’t delay or you miss out.
Smells
Deep, dark smoky notes of plum, chocolate, blackcurrant, and liquorice.
Tastes
Rich and full, with lots of deep, dark, smoky notes and Christmas cake, the tannins are serious, but very ripe and yielding, allowing access to the luxurious fruit. Easy to like in its youth, the wine will develop into another Clare Valley Classic between now and 2030. Made for rich, hearty meat dishes.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
