Description
Speaking a local dialect known as ‘Barossa-Deutsch’, a blend of German and English that embodies the history of the district, one of Langmeil’s growers, the late Wally Krieg didn’t curse, just as his forebears didn’t, but in the heat of the vintage was often heard to mutter “Hangin’ Snakes!”
The 2022 Barossa vintage was marked by exceptional quality, albeit with limited yields. A cooler-than-average summer extended the ripening period, allowing grapes to develop more refined, layered flavours. As a result, the reds from this vintage are intense, dark, and structured, promising both immediate enjoyment and long aging potential. Given the small production and high demand, this wine is expected to sell out quickly—securing a bottle sooner rather than later is wise!

Smells
a dark broody aroma of blackberries, bramble, and spice
Tastes
sweetly fruited with lashings of red and dark berry fruits with milk chocolate balanced by earthy, forest floor notes. Chewy tannins and salivating acidity give structural integrity, making for a delicious drinking Shiraz now and one that will stand the test of time, cellar 5-8 years with confidence. Perfect with roasted lamb or beef. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
