Description
Mills Reef has come of age and sits among Hawkes Bay’s elite producers, their strong Gimblett Gravels vineyards contributing much of the backbone for this 2022 Reserve Syrah. A mixture of French and American oak gives a sweet, smooth finish to complement the spicy, red, and black fruit.
Smells
Seductive aromas of rich black fruits with black pepper, white pepper, black tea, sweet spice, and vanilla oak notes.
Tastes
Opulent and creamy throughout the entire palate, which is laden with dense black fruits, vanilla, and baking spices with sweet oak. Likely to evolve through 2026+ if well stored but it’s a completely seductive glass of wine right now and will match well with quality cuts of meat and tasty hard cheeses. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
