Description

Named after the legendary Queen of Sheba... “I am black and beautiful,” she declares in the Book of Solomon. The Black Queen is Peter Lehmann’s homage to richness, mystery, and majesty. This limited-release Sparkling Shiraz is made from low-yielding, 100% old vine Barossa Shiraz, delivering intense flavour with indulgent richness & complexity. After 12 months in seasoned French oak hogsheads, the wine undergoes secondary bottle fermentation (a la Champagne) followed by 2-years aging on lees, adding layers of creamy texture and luxurious depth. The result? A Top-Shelf deeply coloured, full-bodied sparkling Shiraz laced with luscious dark cherry & plum infused with seductive spice plus mocha. Embedded in fine bubbles with an alluring savoury finish... it’s bold, opulent, and uniquely Australian! The Black Queen is seductive drinking by itself but will match with a wide range of savoury & sweet dishes... perfect Xmas Table drinking. It’s the only wine I drink with curry... sooooo good together! Made like fine NV French Champagne it is a bargain by comparison and a celebration in every glass. Once tasted, you’ll regret not having discovered it a long time ago. Age worthy for 10-15 years.

Deep aromas of black cherry, plum, chocolate, plus subtle spice & vanilla.

Tastes

Beautifully integrated, the intense layers of black plums, cherries, bitter chocolate and spices marry together in the creamy, mellow texture. Finely beaded bubbles elegantly transport the seductive rich fruit core to a refined, warming finish; this is a special wine journey. Amazing with so many savoury & spicy meat dishes plus chocolate inspired desserts. The recommended serving temperature is 8-10 degrees.
