Description
Black Cottage is the everyday alternative to Dave Clouston's Two Rivers label, the 2022 Chardonnay is crafted in a more complex style than most wines at the price point. Dave’s attention to detail in the vineyard is second to none and it shows in all his wines, especially evident in this Chardonnay. The grapes were fermented on light solids, followed by a full malolactic fermentation, and aged in oak barrels for 4 months.
Smells
delicate aromas of nectarines, rock melon with creamy, buttery notes from the full Malo, subtle toasty hints from the well-integrated oak handling.
Tastes
A wine with richness, concentration and great length on the palate makes for a very satisfying and enjoyable wine. From the stunning 2022 vintage is renowned for its small berries, resulting in the concentration and mouthfeel of this wine. Subtle stone fruit flavours with green melon, greengage plums and lemon zest add freshness and energy. Drinking well now and over the next 3-4 years, perfect with cheese, vegetarian dishes, and white meats.
