Description
Benchmark value premium Hawkes Bay Chardonnay… has been so for a decade. The handpicked 78% parcel of Te Awanga fruit delivers scintillating structural balance and beautiful salinity, also the handpicked 22% from Bridge Pa adds richness to the already concentrated, elegant palate… move over White Burgundy. The real deal, judiciously crafted! Hand-picked and whole bunch pressed, before fermentation in fine French oak (19% new) for 11-months. The resulting wine is a case study in richness and harmony, a tribute to another Hawkes Bay vintage that will rank among the greats. A clear nod to exceptional vineyards and the skill of twice NZ Winemaker of the Year... Hugh Crichton.
Smells
Hawke’s Bay meets Burgundy stylistically... intensity, purity plus minerality. Aromas of Alpine flowers, brioche, ripe stone fruit and nougat.
Tastes
Deliciously juicy with focus and precision, stonefruit, brioche, nougat and ripe citrus, with hints of vanilla/spice oak. Very stylish Chardonnay with layers of complex flavours set in a finely creamed texture… immensely satisfying from go to whoa. Concentration, elegance, and seduction abound. Enjoy with roast white meats and poultry dishes and drinking well now through 2028… save a glass for after dinner. For optimal drinking pleasure the recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
