Not a fat or creamy style, it is of the highest quality, focusing more on intensity and richness of fruit plus with a White Burgundy like mineral influence. 12 months in 28% new French oak… only 20% goes through MLF to keep the acidity bright and energetic. Smells
Toasty oak and flint notes with pristine peach, grapefruit, and nectarine, underpinned by roasted fennel, hazelnuts, and warmed baking spice.
Tastes
Very rich and weighty, the flinty, mineral notes wrap an elegant freshness around the glorious and complex palate. Seductive biscuit, nougat and vanilla tinged French oak, plus baking spices add charming layers to the concentrated fruit. Immaculately balanced and highly complex, this is an extremely elegant, almost Old-World style of Chardonnay that rates up with the very finest in the Hawke's Bay. Divine with roasted pork belly and roast chicken and all the trimmings… equally gorgeous to drink by itself! The recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
