China Terraces Chardonnay is always a standout, and this year is no exception—scoring an impressive 95 points at our Fine Wine Annual Chardonnay Tasting. Way to go! Sourced from the loess, clay, and schist terraces of Bendigo, Gibbston Valley’s China Terrace pays homage to the Chinese gold miners who once sought their fortune here. And there’s gold in the glass—a stunning Burgundian-style Chardonnay with complex lees-driven and mineral nuances on a beautifully creamy palate. A true gem and a must-have for the cellar!
Smells
A delicately perfumed bouquet, floral and almost Pinot Gris like with aromas of pears, cinnamon, spice and crème brulee, subtle French oak, with an undercurrent of white peach and nectarines.
Tastes
These delicate flavours persist on the palate and with a sublime texture that lures you in. Very fine, elegant yet with a powerful finish. Cream of soda flavours with hints of toffee and toasty vanilla on the finish. A gentle minerality makes this a crowd-pleasing Chardonnay that will be at its best from 2026 to 2030 but cellar longer for those who appreciate maturity. Enjoy with a crayfish and other ocean delights. The recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
