Description
Restricted offer – final 75 dozen of the spectacular 2021 vintage offered at a truly spectacular price! This Leveret Reserve Chardonnay is filled with complex fruit and oak winemaking complexities with delicious buttery richness… very reminiscent of a famous premium NZ Chardonnay that used to wear a ‘Black Label’. The estate’s name, Leveret, meaning “young hare”, symbolises vitality, agility, and a connection to the land. Leveret has established a reputation for wines that combine modern winemaking precision with respect for terroir. For this Chardonnay, grapes are sourced from Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand’s warmest major wine region, where a combination of free-draining soils, maritime influence, and long growing seasons produces Chardonnay with both richness and tension. Meticulous handpicking, gentle pressing, and maturation in fine-grained oak barrels for 12 months yield a wine of layered complexity and opulence.
Smells
A complex bouquet of ripe nectarine, peach and lemon curd, underpinned by toasted hazelnut, vanilla bean, and subtle flint.
Tastes
Layered with Buttery opulence yet well balanced, the palate unfolds with layers of golden peach and grilled pineapple, complexed by fine vanilla spice, subtle toasty oak and creamy lees texture. Lingering notes of butterscotch and toasted almonds are threaded by citrus zest, providing energy and freshness. Enjoy now through to 2027, with seafood, poultry dishes, salads and soft cheeses. Save a glass to enjoy after dinner.
