From Obsidian’s sun-soaked Waiheke vineyards, the 2021 Reserve Chardonnay is a masterclass in precision and poise. Handpicked fruit and meticulous barrel work have created a wine of striking texture and purity, balancing power with refinement.
Smells
Aromas of white peach, nectarine and Meyer lemon rise elegantly from the glass, layered with notes of roasted hazelnut, brioche, and a whisper of flinty minerality. Subtle hints of struck match and crème anglaise add complexity and depth.
Tastes
The palate is beautifully weighted and creamy. Stone fruit and citrus are underpinned by a fine line of acidity, intertwined with delicate oak spice, almond meal and chalky minerality.
