Description
Until a few years ago this was the pinnacle of Tony's exciting Chardonnay range, his mastery of Chardonnay evident in this amazing wine. Handpicked from a dry-farmed (zero irrigation) old vine block, it is 100% barrel fermented in Taransaud French Oak barriques. Tony is passionate about terroir in relation to his Chardonnays... the terroir of the Taransaud Oak quality/age/tree/selection/harvesting of their oak) plays a vital role in the precision, seamless harmony, and seduction of Skeetfield Chardonnay.
Smells
decadent aromas of warm, buttered popcorn, brown butter sauce, fennel, stone fruit, grapefruit, and hints of white lilies.
Tastes
Superbly balanced, incredibly textured, pure, and concentrated with lingering stone fruit flavours, grapefruit zest, a creamy texture, finishing with toasty vanilla nuances. Albeit the 2022 vintage had its challenges, it is obvious that Tony and his team left no stone unturned to select only the best and the outcome is commendable. Drinking well now through 2030 and will match with roasted white meats or seafood. The recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
