Description
While the Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge has long been a favourite among Kiwi wine lovers, it’s time to shine a light on its equally impressive sibling—the Guigal Côtes du Rhône Blanc. If you're a fan of Pinot Gris or aromatic whites in general, this is a must-try. The 2023 vintage stays true to Guigal’s signature style, with Viognier leading the charge (60%), bringing its hallmark floral and stone fruit aromatics. It's beautifully supported by smaller portions of Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc, and Grenache Blanc, which add layers of texture, freshness, and complexity. This is a white wine that over-delivers—fragrant, rounded, and refreshingly vibrant. A perfect match for fresh seafood, grilled chicken, or a sunny afternoon with friends. If you haven’t discovered this Rhône gem yet, now’s the time.
Smells
Gentle aromatics of orange blossom, with the classic characters of Viognier; canned apricots, underpinned by honeysuckle, white peach and lavender.
Tastes
Dry to taste but with a lovely viscosity and richness to the palate, the wine has a harmonious character to it, with a hint of summer, like chewing on fresh straw to compliment the peach and apricot fruit flavours. A truly lovely wine that provides an affordable look at the Guigal house style. Drinking well now and for the next year or two. For optimal drinking pleasure the recommended serving temperature is 10-13 degrees.
