Description
Verdicchio is hard to say but is certainly one of the more regal white grape varieties of Italy, famous in the Marche region, near the Adriatic Coast, Central Italy. Verdicchio can thank its revival to its excellent structure, good acidity, and firm finish. Its taste has an aromatic profile that is extremely complex, vegetable, and floral. The “amaro” (bitter) characteristic of the Verdicchio grape is unmistakably sapid with an almondy finish, which is pleasantly bitter, likened to a G&T like finish, long and precise. Making for a superb food wine.
Smells
aromas of prince melon, guava, dried hay, fennel, green pears, wet earth, and notes of white lilies.
Tastes
the hallmark of this variety is the rich, oily, and creamy mid-palate texture, crisp acidity, and piquant, bitter almond finish. The whole combination is spellbinding. Once you taste a good Verdicchio, it will become your newfound love, it’s that good. This Unami Ronchi fits the bill perfectly. Lovely flavours of salted preserved lemons with a herbal thread, leading to that slightly bitter, almond finish. Stunning on every level. Drinking well now through 2027 and will be an amazing match with oysters.
