Description
Spy Valley’s vineyards in the Waihopai Valley are some of the region’s most established, and it shows in every glass of this beautifully made 2023 Pinot Gris. Handpicked over two days from select vineyard blocks, this extra care ensures only the very best fruit makes it into the bottle. Crafted using a mix of stainless steel and large oak ovals, this Pinot Gris has both purity and texture—crisp, juicy fruit up front, with a lovely roundness and depth on the palate. Time on lees before blending has added even more mouthfeel and length, making this a seriously classy Gris at a great price. Fresh, layered and expressive, it’s drinking beautifully now and will age gracefully over the next five years. A versatile match for seafood, poultry, or creamy pasta dishes.
Smells
Nashi pear, apple, baking spices and honeysuckle and hints of Seville oranges.
Tastes
Rich, viscous palate with very ripe stone fruits evolving to baking spices, nutty, baked pear, ginger and clove flavours with succulent natural acids to engage you into a second glass; enjoy through to 2028. Recommended serving temperature is 7-10 degrees.
