Nestled in the sheltered embrace of the Teviotdale Hills, the valley enjoys natural protection from the brisk easterlies while basking in the warmth of prevailing northwesterly winds. The majestic Southern Alps to the west create a unique microclimate—marked by low rainfall, abundant sunshine, and gloriously warm summers. The region’s signature hot, dry nor’wester is gracefully balanced by cooling sea breezes and the occasional invigorating southerly, shaping a terroir of remarkable character and elegance.
