Fast forward to today, and while the heart of Giesen is firmly planted in Marlborough, their passion for Riesling remains as strong as ever—just with even more innovation and finesse. The Gemstone Riesling is a stunning Limited Release that takes the variety to another level. Fermented in three distinct vessels—granite tanks imported from Germany, seasoned 500L oak barrels, and stainless steel—this small-batch wine is all about precision, texture, and mineral complexity. It’s energetic, and layered, with a brilliant tension between citrus purity and stony savoury depth. A must-try for Riesling lovers and a brilliant example of New Zealand’s evolution with this noble grape.

Ripe exotic fruits, guava, honey, and apricots make for a rich style balanced by seamless acidity. There is a purity of fruit with intensity, like great Rieslings from the Mosel.
