Westbrook's winery is based in the Waikoukou Valley in Waimauku, but their Marlborough Chardonnay and this deliciously DRY low cropped Riesling are their two flagship varieties, for which they are most known & accoladed for. Winemaker James Rowan is a master of the craft, creating wines with a potent combination of incredibly low pH readings, moderate alcohols and scintillating fruit purity, add to that, 6 years bottle age, and you have this deliciously DRY Riesling masterpiece. From the super 2019 vintage and 6-years winery aged… we are CLEARING the final 80 dozen from the winery cellars at a spectacular $15.99 bottle. The winery is cashing up Cellar Reserves at a ‘Must Have’ price to make way for current releases… in better times it would be an aged Cellar Release going for a premium. Grab it while you can. Smells
Wonderful, aged Riesling aromas of toastiness, with golden peach, freshly squeezed lime and green apple.
Tastes
The palate showing wonderful development as well, the peach, apple and citrus aromas translating to the palate woven around a fine, freshening acidity that keeps you returning to the glass for more. Just a smidgen of juicy sweetness on the finish, there are few better wines for Thai or Vietnamese BYOs + BBQ smoked salmon with chives, onion and cottage cheese, than this Westbrook DRY Riesling. Enjoy between now and 2028.
