Description
Rohe, meaning territory in Māori, reflects the distinctiveness of Marlborough’s diverse sub-regions. Each wine in this range is crafted to highlight the individuality of its origin. Blind River, located on Marlborough’s southern coast, is the driest, coolest, and most wind-exposed sub-region. These challenging conditions force the vines to work harder, resulting in wines with remarkable intensity and unique cool-climate character. This release is a textbook example of Rapaura Springs' commitment to quality, elegance, and exceptional value—delivering both a sense of place and a wine of real distinction.
Smells
restrained notes of lemongrass, passionfruit, blackcurrant leaf, fresh snow peas underpinned by gooseberries and hints of basil.
Tastes
the vines’ struggle is particularly apparent on the palate with an impressive weight, power, and richness, highlighting the prowess of a great Marlborough Savvy. There is a fine chalky texture, giving way to salty and saline flavours on the long, citrus finish. Perfect this summer and next with mussels or white protein. The recommended serving temperature is 6-8 degrees.
