Description
Whitehaven’s Greg Series wines are the ultimate in single vineyard expressions... the finest wines they can make and each a tribute to their late founder Greg White who tragically died of cancer. Greg is a small production, fractional to that of Cloudy Bay and one or two other more prominent Marlborough brands. The focus is on absolute quality and at $30/bottle cellar door price... Greg would be my preferred choice. This revered Awatere vineyard has yielded a beautifully pure, exceptionally rich, and textured 2022 vintage release that Greg would be honoured to have bear his name.
Smells
A clarion call of fresh dried herbs, citrus, passionfruit, spices, and apple.
Tastes
Succulent and beautifully textured, the acidity is bright and round and with a wet rock-like minerality combines to give a fabulous lift to the rich, pure fruit. A beautiful, premium example of Marlborough Sauvignon contrived from low fruit yields, attentive viticulture, and hands-off winemaking. The result is scintillating, and it will drink magnificently through 5-years from vintage so do not be afraid to put a few bottles down for later enjoyment. Made for oysters.
