Bathtub Gin is a generic term for a bootleg, home-made spirit, though there haven't been any corners cut in this sensational, expensively crafted, boutique gin from the very talented Ableforth's distillery in the U.K. Exotic botanicals include juniper, cinnamon, coriander, cardamom, orange peel and clove, which are then added gently to the highest quality copper pot-still spirit using an old-fashioned method called cold compounding. Great packaging gives a nod to the old apothecaries (chemist shops) where everyone used to buy their gin for its curative qualities in the good old days. The rare Sri Lankan cinnamon used here has imbued this gin with a subtle copper gold colour and luscious mouthfeel.
