This gin was released by the award-winning Notting Hill bar, Portobello Star, home of the Ginsitute. This is a place where one can learn an awful lot about gin, so you would expect Portobello Road No. 171 to be rather good, and indeed it is. It's an old-style London Dry Gin, containing traditional botanicals and spices, that harks back to the gins of yesteryear.

Made in small batches by the eighth-generation distiller Charles Maxwell, this traditional London Dry Gin eschews the modern trend for ever more esoteric botanicals, hitting you with juniper before settling in with bitter citrus flavours and a delicate, sweet touch of liquorice. Beautifully labelled, the bottle references Gins of bygone days, while the gin inside salutes distiller's of the past.

Perfect for a G&T with your favourite mixer or in a classic Martini.

A stylish boutique Gin distillery with requisite handcrafted copper stills (one of which is affectionately called Copernicus II), that is located on the famous and oh-so stylish Portobello Rd in London that couldn't be more English, has deservedly won it all. The 9 botanicals that have been infused into this lovely gin using the London Dry Gin technique are truly international; the Orris root and finest Juniper berries are from Tuscany. The lemon peels are from Spain, the bitter orange peels are from Haiti and Morocco, the nutmeg is from Indonesia and the cassia bark is from South East Asia. This is a punchy (42% ABV), versatile, elegant Gin, that is equally at home in the finest G&T, an absolute delight that will be your new favourite, and what a fabulous price. Tally Ho! Chaps and chapesses, this is great English Gin!
