Each year The Drammy’s are run in NZ, deciding the best of the best available on our shores. This is not just for NZ Whiskies, but also celebrating and judging drams from all over the world to decide the absolute best in NZ. Not only did the Glendronach 21yr old Whisky take out Best In Class for Scotland Single Malt 21yrs or over, but it also won the trophy for Best in Show on the day, being named the finest whisky from the selection judged.
Matured in a combination of the finest Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks for a minimum of 21 years, the ‘Parliament’ continues the great GlenDronach tradition of offering fruit-laden intensity in its single malts. This rich expression has been named Parliament after the colony, or ‘parliament’, of rooks that have been nesting in the trees that overlook the GlenDronach distillery for almost 200 years. Bottled at 48%, non chill filtered and of natural colour, this is elegant decadence at its finest.
Think of the best sweet Pedro Ximinez sherry infused fruit cake your Granny used to make from Christmases past melded with the best homemade fudge ever and you are there. Everything is layer upon layer of lush, velvet-soft fruit notes, molasses, caramel and organic cloves with just a whiff of the best new leather car seats. A Parliament is a grouping of Rook birds, considered lucky in Scotland, lucky indeed for all that get to try this sublime elixir.
