HARMONY & HEAVENLY ... AUSTRALIA'S FINEST!

It wouldn't be a 25th Birthday Celebration without one of the world's most awarded dessert wines would it? Especially given that Noble One is celebrating its 40th this year too!

While botrytis affected fruit had been used for well over a century in Europe, no one in the new world had considered their conditions as reliable enough, year on year. That was until a newly qualified winemaker Darren De Bortoli, having just graduated from Roseworthy College, returned to the winery to face what had been labelled as the Riverina's most rotten vintage on record. Desperately trying to salvage something from such a disastrous vintage, Noble One was born.

The Riverina sub-region is perfect for botrytis, as it's known for its humid autumns, and since that first ' inspired disaster' they've only missed two vintages in forty years! With an incredible record tally of 182 Trophies and 505 Gold Medals, it is now one of Australia's most awarded wines!

Whether this is your first time enjoying the hedonistic experience of Noble One ... or if like us you simply can't get enough of the stuff - this 2018 vintage is an excellent experience. With six Trophies, eight Gold Medals, and a 98/100 point score from reputable Wine Spectator Magazine, adding to its already record-breaking reputation.

Very Sauternes-like with classic aromas of honey, bread and butter, dried apricot, beeswax, vanilla and spice. On the palate it's mouth-filling and intensely sweet, but there's a beautiful acidity that keeps all that sweetness in check. Luscious and rich butterscotch flavours, along with the beeswax and apricot linger endlessly on the finish. It is one of those contemplative wine moments, that you will remember for years to come.

This is a masterclass dessert wine, and it's not hard to see how it has earned its cult status. But the truly amazing thing about it is, that unlike it's old world counterparts that would sell for hundreds if not thousands of dollars, it is an absolute steal at just $37.99. But be warned, one is never enough!

Description

Noble One is probably one of, if not the most famous dessert/sweet wine of the New World. Made in a Sauternes style from Semillon grapes infected with Noble Rot, also known as botrytis (a fungus that concentrates flavours) giving rich, luscious wines and imparting honey, apricot and beeswax characters. Darren De Bortoli created Noble One at the family winery in 1982, to this day it is still one of the most awarded wines in history. More than three decades after this pioneering Botrytis Semillon took the world by storm, internationally acclaimed Noble One remains the benchmark of Australian ‘Botrytis’ dessert winemaking. For those of you who have never tried this delight, it’s a must and for those of us who have, its time to try this stunning 2017.

Smells

It’s a Sauternes look-a-like aromatically with classic aromas of honey and butter on freshly toasted sourdough, semi-dried apricots, beeswax, vanilla, honeysuckle, cinnamon and spice.

Tastes

There is little that can prepare you for your first sip, that feeling where your senses are overwhelmed with wonder and delight, a magical moment. The palate is lusciously sweet but perfectly balanced by the finely threaded acidity, harmony and heavenly. Those magnificent flavours of butterscotch, apricots and beeswax linger forever and leave you wanting another sip. There is a reason why it is one of the most acclaimed New World dessert wines, because it is so darn good. Traditionally served with oozy, soft cheeses and Foie Gras.
