Description

Te Kahu means 'the cloak' in te reo Māori and refers to the mist that envelops Giants Winery in the Tukituki Valley. Legend has it that this mist was used to protect a mythical Māori maiden from the sun as she visited her lover, Te Mata. This is a wine of richness and an abundance of black fruit flavours and a long-structured finish.

Smells

Concentrated nose, with notes of cassis, black olive and dried tobacco leading the bouquet.

Tastes

The wine has a lovely energy amplifying the red fruits and liquorice characters framed by dark chocolate laced tannins delivering a classical structure. Dusty, fine grain tannins linger and persists to the long, chiselled finish. Wonderful drinking now, decant one hour prior to serving, through 2030 and will partner with braised meats. The recommended serving temperature is 16-18 degrees.
