Produced in a way to highlight the quality Hawke's Bay has to offer at an approachable price point, the McDonald series wines always over deliver dollar for dollar. The Syrah is a behemoth of a wine, with dark, brooding black fruits surrounded by lashings of oak. A big, rich, warming Syrah which will warm you up on even the coldest nights.
Smells
Plums, chocolate, coffee, smoke and wet stone. There are touches of vanilla too, a real warmth given by the oak.
Tastes
Generous and brooding, the plum and chocolate are incredibly mouthfilling, with a defining softness giving the wine a full and complete complexity. A style that is looking very tidy for drinking upon release, but would likely benefit from 3-4 years in a cellar.
