Description
Staggering opportunity for Syrah lovers. Millton have been caught with a surprise Export Cancellation of Handcrafted 2021 premium Syrah off their legendary bio-dynamically managed Te Arai Vineyard. Zero use of herbicides or pesticides, it’s bio-dynamic winegrowing/winemaking is as pure as it gets and Millton are one of the world’s finest exponents of this artisan practice. 2021 was an outstanding vintage with very balanced ripening conditions. The fruit was hand harvested and fermented in large wooden cuves where it was also macerated on skins. Post maceration it was racked to fine French Oak Barriques for 18-months aging. There was no fining, and it was minimally filtered prior to bottling. Millton’s Te Arai Vineyard Syrah is soulful, warming, and deeply expressive of their artisanal touch This new and exciting release was bound for overseas, but in this uncertain global business environment, was cancelled at the last minute. They appointed Fine Wine Delivery to exclusively CLEAR it at a staggering $15.99 bottle. Gorgeously warm, pure fruited & textural... laden with dark plum and berry threaded with spice & pepper. Staggering quality regular drinking red at $15.99, with the potential to age through 2031. Superb harmony & soulful energy... the Millton’s would describe it as a “Happy” wine.
Smells
The bouquet is layered and inviting, with blackberry, dark plum, and cassis, interwoven with black pepper, leather and tobacco leaf.
Tastes
On the palate, the wine is warmly textural with generous dark plum & berry fruit framed by supple tannins. Black pepper, baking spice, smoked cedar, and savoury, earthy complexities add to its abundant intrigue, while a splash of Malbec adds juicy freshness. The finish is long, warm, and soulful. Enjoy now through to 2031 with a wide selection of red meat. Lightly seared venison & venison carpaccio would be perfect... as would a selection of hard cheeses.
