GSM blends out of Australia are increasingly becoming synonymous with quality and consistency. Whilst commonly being predominantly Grenache, Turkey Flat have instead opted for a Shiraz dominant blend, making sure their wine still retains the generous plushness that make people love Australian wine so much. All three grapes work in perfect harmony however - the plushness from the Shiraz perfectly married together with the slight spicy character and gentle fruits from the Grenache, and also the savoury edge and structure provided by the Mourvedre (or as Australians call it, Mataro). A superbly well rounded and balanced wine, this is spectacular bang for your buck and definitely not a wine to overlook.

Bright cherries, raspberry jam, chocolate and hints of floral notes dance around the glass.

The bright red fruits are extremely explosive and upfront, and then settle down quickly to allow the savoury toasty characters to shine through. There is a firm tannin grip to the wine, and somehow the wine manages to come across as bright and charming, yet brooding, serious and complex at the same time. This is a great wine that will cellar well for 5-8 years. Decant if you need to drink it, ideal with roasted red meats.
